Case study: Nigel triples net pay and spends more time with his kids

Like many franchisees, Nigel Banks wanted to enjoy the freedom and greater financial rewards of running his own business without losing the security of working for a recognised brand.
The launch of FD Recruit (South West) saw Nigel take exclusive control of his territory. He set his own hours, waved farewell “irrelevant KPIs” and began tapping into a UK-wide network of experienced professionals – sharing ideas and leaning on his divisional managing director for support.

Improved financial returns

The new venture will see Nigel approximately triple his net take-home pay. The franchise will yield up to 70% of his fee income, less operational costs (which, due to the cloud-based central resource, will be kept to a minimum.)
Nigel began his franchise journey in December 2015, joining FD Recruit as an experienced recruitment consultant, working towards the ultimate objective of taking on a regional FD Recruit Franchisee. He spent 2016 growing his recruitment desk and achieving consistency whilst benefitting from a guaranteed basic salary, before launching his franchise in January 2017.
Nigel said: “This is an excellent opportunity to achieve the greater financial rewards of running my own business while still enjoying the benefits of being part of a recognised brand.
“Without the distraction of developing a brand, a database or managing a back office admin team I can concentrate on generating fees and growing the brand within the region.”

More family time

“By keeping it simple it means I leave work without all the stress that managing multiple business functions can bring,” said Nigel. “Being part of a group means I still have colleagues to bounce ideas off and at my request I have regular one to ones with my Divisional MD.
“Taking on an FD Recruit Franchise gives me the flexibility to work the hours I require. Some days I work a 9 to 5 (often from home) and other days I work 9 to 3 then take some time out with the kids. Then, if I choose to, I will log on again for a couple hours in the evening to catch up on anything I have missed or work on a shortlist. With a young family, having the flexibility as well as increased earning is just perfect.”

Greater freedom

Nigel added: “On top of all that, I’m not managed by irrelevant KPIs as the targets I work to are set by myself. Setting up on your own isn’t for everyone as you have to be extremely self-motivated. You aren’t sat in an office getting whipped by a manager so the drive has to come from within yourself.
“However for anyone with a life outside of work then an opportunity within the Exec Recruit Group presents you with the perfect work life balance!”
