Interim Finance Director, Dunstable, Bedfordshire

Our client, an SME Sales & Distribution business in Dunstable, is looking for a Part Time Finance Director (2-3 days per week) to support the company through the next exciting phase of its growth journey. This business has a long history of success in its sector that has been underpinned by the development of a broad service offering which continues to grow. Due to this continued growth, there is a need to appoint an experienced part time FD to support and guide the business in fine-tuning its operational & financial efficiencies.
Responsibilities include:
- Improve automation opportunities
- Maximise the use of and information from bespoke and ERP systems including SAGE
- Challenge commercial business areas to maximise opportunities and ensure accountability
- Provide commercial & strategic support and decision-making across the business
- Ensure the finance reporting is best in class, fully compliant and provides meaningful commentary for senior management
- Mentor/develop the finance team as part of succession-planning
Experience Includes:
- Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
- Experience in improving SME’s
- Technically very strong but also strong commercial awareness
- Of an inquisitive nature to ensure you can identify areas of improvement and offer solutions
- Confident and clear communicator with an ability to support senior management
- Ability and keenness to mentor and develop people
The successful candidate will be an immediately available qualified accountant with experience supporting senior management in an SME environment as an FD / CFO / Chief Finance Officer. You will be a hands on and approachable finance team player, with a dedication to ensuring the finance function is working at its best. You will be an ambitious and driven self-starter, with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills. This role is office-based and part time 2-3 days per week.
