FD Recruit are working exclusively with a PE backed, rapidly growing start up multi-site Private Healthcare business, to source a commercially focussed, yet hands-on, Finance Director. This is a fantastic opportunity, reporting to, and working in conjunction with a passionate and driven CEO, the FD will be instrumental in implementing, streamlining and improving processes across the organisation with a focus on total business development and growth, and to compliment and challenge the CEO’s skillset.

My client is looking for an experienced and hands on individual, who will be comfortable with managing and contributing to the day-to-day aspects of a small finance function. To report and enhance margins and cash flow by increasing both the understanding of financial dynamics of the Company’s activities and its ability to achieve growth.

The role can be worked remotely or on a hybrid basis (but you must be wiling and able to access either London or Liverpool for face to face meetings)

Mission:  

To support the CEO and the Board to reach deliver our strategic plan to  grow group revenue to £44m by FY26, growing EBITDA and improving gross margin and cash generation to enable a successful outcome for investors and stakeholders.

Key responsibilities:

  • Undertake financial modelling and present the outcomes clearly and with the appropriate level of detail to enable decision-making, to non-Finance experts
  • Oversee and implement the transition from Xero to a new financial package in both the UK and Australia to support the rapid expansion of clinics
  • Provide detailed financial analysis and guidance to support decision making across all areas of the business
  • Responsible for day-to-day financial operations of the organisation’s activities in accordance to UK GAAP. (Requires a very hands-on approach)
  • Compile and submit monthly payroll to external service providers, checking and review output with responsibility for employee and HMRC payment
  • Complete month end reporting for UK (within a 5 working day window), reporting on profit and loss, balance sheet and cashflow along with analysis and story board to support the movements and corrective actions
  • Complete financial reports, analysis and PowerPoint slide decks for Board and Management Meetings
  • Responsible for the organizations’ financial metrics, budget, forecasting, cash management, and local/corporate tax
  • Develop comprehensive business plan analysis and make recommendations, based on analysis of the data, emerging trends and experiences that lead to growth and EBITDA improvement
  • Work with the CEO to ensure company financial systems are robust, compliant and support current activities and future plans
  • Work with the CEO to ensure the company is adequately insured and financial risks are mitigated
  • Manage and maintain relationships with corporate finance, external audit, tax, and general advisors to support the organization’s needs
  • Manage a small finance team of 1 which will grow as the future clinics are opened
  • Provide comprehensive financial support to clinics with any queries on i.e. client invoices and packages, supplier orders, invoices and payments, client refunds, employee specific queries, clinic system changes (i.e. price changes, promotions, packages, and user access)

Competencies and Characteristics:

  • Experience of successful delivery within in a start-up environment and culture
  • Demonstrated record of success within Private Equity or similar ownership structure and culture
  • Ability to be ‘hands on’ and also comfortable and confident undertaking strategic tasks.
  • Able to think strategically about business outcomes and what is required for success and communicate these to a non-specialist audience
  • Analytical – seeks to understand results and outcomes
  • Able to collaborate with, challenge and get the best out of colleagues

  • Fully Qualified – ACA, ACCA OR CIMA- or qualified by significant experience
  • Degree educated in relevant discipline, or qualified by significant experience
  • Highly Skilled in cash and working capital management
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to communicate Financial information to a non-Finance audience, with clarity, patience and an appropriate level of detail
